A "moon bridge" invites participants to grip the handrails and walk to the top of the artificial hill.

Gripper tape on the sheetmetal surface and the hand rail allows the participant to pull their way to the top of the hill.

The hill's surface is covered in cut and bent sheetmetal with each tab held in place with a nail. The galvanized railings are bolted into the sides of the stained form.

Hanging from the ceiling is a series of lengths of steel ballchain.

The arc of the ball chain replicates and inverts the arc of the gallery's barrel vault creating an eye-shaped volume.

A custom-built aluminum frame holds each strand of ballchain in place along the edge of the barrel vault.

When the participant pulls themselves to the top of the hill, their head parts the steel beadchain.

Tthe lengths of ballchain are lined up with the participant's ascent to allow for his or her head to automatically part the chains.

Once the participant's head is above the level of beadchain, their vista is constrained to within the eye-shaped tube created by the gallery's barrel vault and the corresponding plane of beadchain.

A viewer watching a participant mount the hill now sees a figure without a head.

The interior view for the participant is limited to exclude their own body. For the participant, they have more of a landscape view in which they themselves are not included. For other gallery goers, the only view of the participant is their headless body.
