Viewers entered at the bottom middle of the image. A plane of chair caning bisected the gallery at waist level. Viewers could follow the path to one of 3 cul-de-sacs.

Each cul-de-sac ended in a hand-caned chair. Viewers could sit in the chair leaving only their head above the surface of caning.

The entire cane plane was lit from below where the plane met the wall. This light caused the cane plane to appear opaque to viewers.
